User Guide for the Evac App

1. Overview

The Evac app is designed to manage evacuation procedures effectively, ensuring coordination and safety for all users. This guide provides step-by-step instructions for using the app's features, with visual aids.

2. Key Features

• Real-Time Evacuation Management: Easily coordinate and monitor evacuation status in real-time.

• Group-Based Management: Join or create evacuation groups

• Customizable Alias: Set a recognizable name or alias for identification within a group

• Flexible Notifications: Evacuation coordinators can alert all group members by triggering an evacuation

3. App Navigation

Home Screen

• Displays a list of groups (which can represent buildings, floors, or any other grouping of people) you belong to

• Each group shows the current number of members

Joining a Group

• Tap on the "+" icon to join a group.

• Scan a valid Evac Group QR Code

• Enter your name or alias in the field provided

• Click Join to add yourself to the group

Group Overview

• Tap a group to view its details.

• See the list of members and their statuses.

• During an Evacuation, icons indicate members' locations:

  • Bell Icon: Member has been notified but hasn't reacted yet

  • Running Icon: Member has seen the notification

  • Assembly Point Icon: Member at the designated meeting point

  • Elsewhere Icon: Member is not at the location represented by this group and can be considered safe

Starting an Evacuation (Only available to Evacuation Coordinators)

• Swipe the evacuation button (orange) to start an evacuation for a group

• Members will receive notifications and visual cues to evacuate

Reacting to an Evacuation

• Foremost, evacuate immediately!

• When you reach the assembly point or are otherwise safe, select "At the rally point" or "Elsewhere"

• Status updates ensure all members know your location

Inviting Members

• Tap the menu (three dots) to access group options, select the option to invite a new Member

• Only show the resulting QR code to a legitimate candidate for your group. Don't forget: anyone you let in the group will see everybody's aliases

Creating new Coordinators (Only available to Evacuation Coordinators)

• The candidate must already be a regular Member of the group you are Coordinator of

• Ask the candidate to select the group and to tap the menu (three dots), then ask to select the option to become a Coordinator

• Select the same group on your phone, tap the menu, and select the option to promote someone to Coordinator

• Scan the QR code shown by the candidate and confirm

4. Tips for Effective Use

• Alias: Use a name easily recognizable by group members to avoid confusion

• Notifications: Ensure notifications are enabled for real-time updates

• Practice Drills: Use the app during drills to familiarize members with the system

5. Multilingual and Theme Support

The app supports multiple languages and both light and dark themes. Ensure your device language and theme settings align with your preferences
